Prizes for PE Xpo Winners 2022
A number of Transition Year students exhibited their projects and were awarded prizes at the annual PE Xpo at DCU on 6th April.
As part of their prize for winning the Senior ‘Power of Sport’ category, our students Isobel MacNeill, Sarah Fitzmaurice, Aoife Dardis and Martina Gonzales were invited to visit the University of Limerick’s Department of Physical Education and Sport Sciences (PESS).
They had a wonderful day where they got to take part in workshops and also present their project “Investigation of attitudinal change in PE- Ireland v Spain” to other PE Xpo and BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition winners. Thanks to Ms. O’Brien and Ms. Murphy for accompanying the girls on their trip.
Youth Sport Stakeholder Forum
In addition to their visit to PESS, six of our students were invited to attend the Youth Sport Stakeholder Forum in May, facilitated by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media.
The students had a wonderful day in The National Sports Campus of Ireland. They got to interact with various other youth groups and express their opinions on various issues that impact youth participation in sport and physical activity.
They were in great company on the day and got to meet Minister of Sport Jack Chambers, Chief Executive of Sport Ireland Dr.Una May and RTE Sport Presenter Marie Crowe.
Well done to our students Isobel MacNeill, Sarah Fitzmaurice, Aoife Dardis, Martina Gonzales, Emma Forde and Sinead Kelly who represented us exceptionally on the day.
