Welcome to St Dominic's College

A Chairde,

Welcome to St Dominic’s College Cabra.  We are delighted to welcome you to our school’s website.

We are an all-girls secondary school in the tradition of the Dominican sisters under the patronage of Le Chéile Trust. The school’s governing body is the Board of Management.

St Dominic’s College is steeped in tradition and much of our past informs what we do today. Our future and the future of our society is in safe hands with our wonderful students who will leave here at the end of their formal period of secondary education having achieved their own individual potential and are ready to contribute much to our modern society. St Dominic’s Student Council, our sixth year prefect system and the Big Sister Little Sister programme give students wonderful opportunities to experience student leadership.

The school is a community or family and any family works well when people are happy. When students are happy most other aspects of their lives such as their academic work, their friendships, their creativity and how they become involved in extra- curricular activities fall into place.

We in St Dominic’s College place huge importance on the happiness and wellbeing of students, teachers and all staff. Our pastoral care structure of teachers, tutors and year heads along with our principal, two deputy principals, care team, two chaplains, three guidance counsellors, librarian and five special needs assistants means that there is always someone to talk to if a student has a problem or needs help. Our admin staff, caretakers and ancillary staff contribute greatly also to the smooth running of the school which enables efficient teaching and learning.

A Tribute to Margaret MacCurtain, OP

Margaret MacCurtain, OP – Sr Margaret, or ‘Sister Ben’ to many who knew her – died earlier this week in Santa Sabina House at the great age of 91.  But she was never old.  She was always, as we would now say, ahead of the curve: a passionate social reformer, a great scholar, and a […]
