Teacher collaboration positively impacts student achievement, and allows us as educators to explore new territory and to learn from each other.
Though we as teachers often work alone in the classroom we do not operate independently. Here in St. Dominic’s we believe that the best way to improve the learning experience of our students is to work together.
To allow teachers to brainstorm and share creative ideas we have a sharing platform at every staff meeting. Its aim is to enhance Teaching and Learning. This space allows us to learn from each other to consider lesson structure, ideas, practices and strategies. It also allows us to reflect on our own teaching and as a result students are continuously challenged in the classroom.
Professional Development (CPD)
Career long professional development is central to our work as teachers. Collaboration and reflection is at the core of everything we do. Our school is a dynamic learning organisation where teachers work individually and collectively to build their professional capacity in order to support continuous improvement in Teaching and Learning.
Teachers are kept informed of the latest CPD courses and participate in these on an ongoing basis. The practice of teachers sharing knowledge, skills and resources is very much embedded in our culture here in St. Dominics.
