Le Chéile Schools Trust

September 2009 marked the beginning of a new phase in the story of St Dominic’s College. We became part of the new Le Chéile Trust. As the name suggests, Le Chéile is a coming together of several religious congregations under one new Trust. The Le Chéile Trust is now made up of fifteen religious congregations. The Dominican sisters, dedicated to the education of young women in Cabra since 1835, is one of these fifteen congregations.

The Trust carries out the legal and inspirational role of trusteeship.

Le Chéile is concerned with:

  • The development of a vision of Catholic education;
  • Overseeing the implementation of this vision in its schools;
  • Encouraging founder congregations to preserve key aspects of their evangelical heritage;
  • Facilitating the opening of new schools, if and where the need arises, and if resources permit.

While being part of this larger Trust we will also remain a Dominican School and continue to promote and live the Dominican Ethos. Our motto 'Veritas' (Truth) epitomises the aim of all Dominican Schools – the pursuit of truth in all its forms. Our school will continue to strive to be a community centred on Christ and on Gospel values which values the unique giftedness of each individual.

Copies of the Le Chéile Charter are available in the College.

We encourage you to find out more information about the Le Chéile Schools Trust on their own website.
