Podcasts By Students at St. Dominic’s College

This term three classes at Saint Dominic’s created podcasts. A podcast is similar to a radio documentary in its style and presentation. There are many types of podcasts. In this instance, each class focused on a different topic to research and created a podcast with educational value.

Click on the videos below to listen to the podcasts.

Ukraine: The Country Behind the Headlines

The TY English students chose to put their talents to work in learning about Ukraine. But ‘not in the way we hear about it in the news.’ Instead, the students researched the customs, history, art and sport of the country. What results is an interesting and compelling listen reminding us that ‘Ukraine is not just a country at war, it is a home. It is a place that millions of people love, just like Ireland.’

Going Mental: A Podcast About Mental Health

Second Year C.S.P.E students care deeply about mental health issues. Together they created a helpful and compassionate resource for anyone who would like to learn more about minding their mental health.

School Life in the Past

Finally, First Year English students, working both as researchers and journalists, interviewed older members of society about school life in the past. Their podcast is a nostalgic look back at different times and places.

The podcast project was facilitated by Ms Mc Namara.
