In March, all First Year students had the opportunity to take part in the Junior Maths Competition 2022, a national maths competition organised by the Irish Maths Teachers Association.
The competition is held annually in Ireland and this year the level of participation has reached a new high: 225 schools – 30% of all Irish secondary schools and 10,000 First Years entered the competition.
Congratulations to all the students who participated and special congratulations to Katelyn Donegan Fleming who scored the highest of her year, 72%, a very good score considering how high the standard was this year.
Also in March, the TY students took part in Peter’s Problem, a mathematics competition held in Ireland since 2012, dedicated to the memory of the teacher Peter Tiernan. The competition promotes STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). The students worked in teams of 2 or 3 to solve 24 problems. In addition to the challenge and the fun of solving the problems, students appreciated the important value of working in a team.
Congratulations to all our TY students who took on the challenge of IMTA Peter’s Problem 2022!
