A Chairde,
Welcome to St Dominic’s College Cabra. We are delighted to welcome you to our school’s website.
We are an all-girls secondary school in the tradition of the Dominican sisters under the patronage of Le Chéile Trust. The school’s governing body is the Board of Management.
St Dominic’s College is steeped in tradition and much of our past informs what we do today although we look to the future to match our service to the students with skills that society will demand of them in the future. Our future and the future of our society is in safe hands with our wonderful students who will leave here at the end of their formal period of secondary education having achieved their own individual potential and are ready to contribute much to our modern society.
St Dominic’s College encourages and places great emphasis on Student Leadership and we have many practical expressions to give students the opportunity to show leadership skills, such as the Student Council, Head Girls to the Senior School and Head Girls to the Junior School, our Sixth Year Prefect system, Class Captains and Deputy Class Captains, Student Voice Forum on Teaching and Learning, the Junior and Senior Eco Teams, the Social Justice Committee, Gaisce participants, and the first and fifth year mentoring Big Sister Little Sister programme. These student-led committees and leadership positions give students plenty of opportunities to be creative, to take on responsibility and to make a difference to our school community and also the wider society.
The school is a community or family and any family works well when people are happy. When students are happy most other aspects of their lives such as their academic work, their friendships, their creativity and how they become involved in co-curricular activities, extra-curricular sports, clubs and events fall into place.
